  • Particle Physics Lab:
  • CERN is the world's largest particle accelerator laboratory. It is located in Geneva, Switzerland. This lab was where the web was born.
  • Fermilab is one of the largest accelerators in the world. It is located in Illinois, 40 miles West of Chicago. Their website has all sorts of information on quarks and detectors. Click to go to the main site. You can find their education page here.
  • Another accelerator facility is Brookhaven National Laboratory which is located on Long Island in New York. Click to go to their education page.
  • There is an accelerator in Virginia called Jefferson Lab where scientists study the nucleus of atoms. Their education page is here.
  • Education Websites:
  • QuarkNet brings high school students and teachers together with particle physicists to research some of the mysteries about the structure of matter and fundamental forces of nature. Visit QuarkNet.
  • Particle Adventure is another fun website to learn more about quarks and other particles.
  • A list of educational resources that explore nanoscale and nanotechnology can be found on a separate page.
  • Molecules are made of atoms which are made of quarks. To learn more about molecules go to this website.
  • ScienceCastle.com is an online science community that offers online Science Classes, Science Kits, and Science Projects.
  • The Scale of the Universe site allows you to interactively zoom in and out to find out the size of things.
  • Quarked Project:
  • The Quarked! project is brought to you by people at the University of Kansas, including the Department of Physics and Astronomy, the Department of Design, the Department of English, and the Natural History Museum.
  • Bazillion Pictures is a 3D animation studio and effects house located in Kansas City, Missouri. They've created the animations for this website.
