Cindy Lyles serves as a contributor to the HBW Blog. She is a poet, graduate student in literature, and program coordinator for the Black Studies Program at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. She also serves as a Fellow for the Eugene B. Redmond Collection. In addition to producing verse, she writes about black women and urban space, African American poetry, and her hometown East St. Louis. She is an instructor for the East St. Louis Community Camp and has participated in a Sonia Sanchez Seminar sponsored by the Furious Flower Poetry Center at James Madison.
