Although Hawk Link has many programs through the year, here are a few highlights:

Hawk Week: Students become acquainted with the university through Hawk Week activities. There will be a separate Hawk Link social and academic activities as well. View the Hawk Week activities

  • SOAR Program: SOAR, or Students Obtaining Academic Resources, is a program designed to assist and motivate first year students in adjusting and succeeding at KU.  SOAR participants meet weekly with SOAR Counselors to answer any questions they may have about KU and Lawrence.  In addition, the SOAR Counselor serves as the student’s tutor and is able to help them in their entry-level classes.  The SOAR program also includes study workshops, social events, as well as a weeklong “study zone” during finals week.

  • Success Seminars : Programs such as advising, financial aid, living and learning communities, student involvement, and various other topics will be presented throughout the semester. All students are encouraged to attend these events and will be reminded by e-mail and by personal invites.

  • Transitions: Transitions is the sophomore year component of our award winning Hawk Link program. It is designed to provide academic support and guidance as sophomores matriculate through the college experience. Transitions will provide components that are similar to the resources you received in Hawk Link, but will also provide you with the opportunity to mentor incoming freshman and give back to the KU Community. This program will feature more focused academic seminars, working with various faculty members, career exploration, free tutoring, and other outreach efforts that will lead to your success here at KU.
