Academic Resources

Hawk Link
Hawk Link
Hawk Link is an academic based retention program designed to assist first year students in navigating their first year by utilizing existing programs at The University of Kansas.  Hawk Link is open to all students with a special emphasis on students of color.  Hawk Link operates from an inclusive model that will prepare students for success well beyond their college days.
Transitions
Transitions
Transitions is an academic-retention program designed to assist second year Hawk Link students as they “transition” from their academic year to the second. The program uses best practices for student retention and engagement to address the unique needs of sophomores. Students are exposed to resources within the KU community through specialized programming focused on self-exploration and career development.
SOAR - Students Obtaining Academic Resources
SOAR is a free tutoring and mentoring program provided through the Hawk Link program. SOAR offers tutoring in a variety of freshman and sophomore level courses. Each session is one-hour, per course, per week. Group study sessions are also available. Mentoring is a component of SOAR, which provides tips and resources about adjusting to college, study skills, time management, test-prep, and more. All tutoring takes place in the Academic Resource Center (ARC).

For more information, contact Camille Clark, SOAR Coordinator, at (785)864-4350 or stop by the office.
Corporate Career Connections Program
Corporate Career Connections Program
The goal of the Corporate Career Connections Program is to encourage students (with a special emphasis on the first and second year experience) to become engaged in the career exploration process early in their college experience. The intent is to increase participants’ knowledge about professional career attainment strategies available on campus and through KU corporate affiliates associated with the Office of Multicultural Affairs and the University Career Center. The program encourages open dialogue between students, student leadership organizations, corporate representatives, and various KU departments that have resources specific to this populations’ academic and career attainment success.  This includes but is not limited to, major exploration, internships, resumes writing, interviewing techniques, and post secondary education goals.
