Deb joined the office in 1972 and has been Director of OIRP since 1975. She has developed and implemented costing studies; conducted financial and salary studies; coordinated, developed, implemented, and analyzed surveys; prepared policy and position papers; built planning models; participated in a variety of data exchanges, designed institutional and departmental data profiles; and consulted with Board of Regents staff regarding studies on state financing, faculty activities, graduate student activities, program review, mission review, among others. She also has developed and presented workshops on TQM and consults on peer selection, comparative cost studies, and TQM. (Masters in Business Administration)

Sandra is an Assistant Director of OIRP. She first joined the office in 1989. Her responsibilities include developing and analyzing comparative metrics for KU and other AAU universities, conducting policy analyses, and coordinating analytical projects using national datasets. Sandra has worked extensively preparing data and analyses for the Office of Graduate Studies. She is active in the AAU Data Exchange and serves as the caretaker for the AAUDE Doctoral Time to Degree exchange item. (M.S.Ed. in Higher Education)

Paul is an Assistant Director of OIRP and also serves as the Assistant to the Senior Vice Provost for Academic Affairs. He joined OIRP in 2009. Paul oversees many surveys in OIRP and also supports KU's strategic planning process. Paul is working toward a Ph.D.in Educational Leadership and Policy (concentration in Higher Education) at the University of Kansas. (Masters in Business Administration)

Gwen Bohling

Gwen joined OIRP as a Research Analyst in 2001. Previously she worked for three years as a developer/analyst in KU's Computing Services division. During the 1990s, Gwen served for five years as assistant and later associate director in the Office of Student Financial Aid, where her responsibilities included system testing and document handling. She has taught writing and English as a second language. She is responsible for conducting a variety of student analyses in OIRP. (M.A. in English)

Michael joined OIRP as a Research Analyst in 2012. He began working for the University in 2007 as a technical consultant to the University Registrar. From there Michael was moved to Data Analytics & Technology where he worked as an information specialist focusing on admissions and student records research efforts. His responsibilities with OIRP include developing reports and information systems related to student recruitment and enrollment for use in the Departmental Executive Management Information System (DEMIS) as well as responding to various administrative unit ad hoc requests. Yolanda is a Senior Principal Analyst who joined the office in 2010. She previously worked at KUCR as a PeopleSoft System Administrator and at Kansas State University as an IT Planning Coordinator. Yolanda provides the senior leadership of the university with timely and pertinent data/analyses to support the planning and management of the research enterprise. Responsibilities include working with Research and Graduate Studies to assure collection of appropriate and consistent information about sponsored project activities. Additionally, Yolanda works with academic and research units to provide data to meet their various planning and management needs. (B.A. in Finance)

Chris Johnson

Chris joined the UMI team in 2012. He previously spent 8 years working at Student Information Systems, where he helped implement and support the financial aid module. Prior to that, he worked for nearly 12 years in a variety of roles with the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships, including reporting. In his present role, he helps support UMI objectives to help develop information management tools, with a particular emphasis on financial aid. He also holds a Courtesy Assistant Professor appointment in the Department of Germanic Languages and Literatures. He also is a principal investigator for the online Linguistic Atlas of Kansas German Dialects project. (PhD in Germanic Languages and Literatures)

Amanda joined OIRP in 2014 as Program Manager for the Professional Online Record (PRO) project. She is working toward a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies (concentration in Higher Education Administration) at the University of Kansas. Most recently, Amanda worked as a Graduate Assistant in OIRP assisting with the 2015 HLC reaccreditation process and as a Graduate Research Assistant in the KU School of Education assisting with the 2014 NCATE/CAEP reaccreditation process. Prior to coming to KU, Amanda worked for six years in higher education in the areas of assessment, instruction, and curriculum. (Master of Arts in Education)

David Mannering

David worked in the Dean's Office in the KU College of Liberal Arts and Sciences in the late 1980's and early 90's, and was the principle author of the ARTS degree audit system. He then worked in the computing center at Emporia State University where he rose to the level of Associate Vice President of Information Technology. From there he moved to Nebraska and served as CIO of the Lincoln Electric System for twelve years. Most recently he was CIO of the Kansas Department of Revenue. David holds a BA and MA in Philosophy and a PH.D. in Higher Education Administration from KU. As a senior analytics strategist David is responsible for continuing OIRP's strategic arc of business intelligence applications.

Linda started her higher education career in the Office of Institutional Research and Planning at the University of Kansas in 1983. She moved to higher education budget and finance for fifteen years at KU, Emporia State University, and the University of Nebraska system office. Most recently she directed the Office of Institutional Research for eight years at the University of Nebraska at Omaha and currently is on administrative leave while serving as Project Manager for the Professional Online Record (PRO) project at KU. Linda holds degrees from Washburn University (B.M) and the University of Kansas (M.M.E.D. and M.B.A.), and a graduate certificate in software engineering project management from the University of Nebraska. She is interested in the application of new technologies to collaborate and to do analysis. Linda is a musician and supports the arts.

Virginia is the Statistical and Information Officer, and has been with the office since 1974. Virginia's primary responsibility is to develop, analyze, and maintain federal surveys and major college guides, and disseminate university data and information. She coordinates the production of the University of Kansas Profiles, the Common Data Set, and she also responds to approximately forty comprehensive surveys per year. (B.S.E. in Secondary Education)

Trina joined OIRP in 2011 as a research analyst. Her responsibilities include the utilization of data mining techniques to develop and analyze predictive models that inform KU's recruitment and retention practices. She has 12 years of professional experience in the Division of Student Success at KU (working with first-year college students in transition) and most recently she served as a graduate research assistant at Iowa State University (ISU). Trina has extensive experience in quantitative research methods and multivariate analyses. (Ph.D. in Higher Education)

Barbara is a Research Analyst and has been with the office since 2005. Responsibilities include conducting research and preparing summaries of reports in support of university administration as well as preparing data and student analyses. She is also involved with the development and production of reports, designs, implements, and analyzes surveys related to university academic programs and operations. (M.S.Ed. in Higher Education)

Bill is a Research Analyst for OIRP, focused primarily on building and maintaining business intelligence tools and dashboards with Financials and HR data. Before joining the department in 2014, he served as the PeopleSoft System Administrator for KUCR starting in January 2103. In his KUCR role, he served as a key member of the Research AR/Billing project team. Over the course of his career, heís worked extensively with Tableau Software, building user friendly reports and data views for a variety of audiences. In his current position, Bill works with stakeholders across the KU campus to design and implement BI reporting solutions that assist in making data-supported business decisions. Ron returned to OIRP in 2005 after working on-site at Haskell Indian Nations University for two years to build their institutional research capacity. He moved to the Lawrence campus in 1991 after leading the Office of Institutional Research and Planning at the KU Medical Center. Ron has expertise in the organization of data for information systems and analysis. He also coordinates analysis of faculty, staff, and salary data to meet University needs for management information and participation in external studies. (M.S. in Psychology)

Prasanna joined OIRP as a Research Analyst in 2014. Her responsibilities include Database Management, and implementing and enhancing Business Intelligence tools for Financial and HR data. Before joining OIRP, she worked at Payless as a Financial Analyst. During her MBA, she also worked as a Graduate Assistant in OIRP enhancing the DEMIS portal. She has experience as a Finance Consultant migrating financial data from legacy systems to Oracle Financials. (Masters in Business Administration and Bachelors in Computer Science)

JoAnn Williams

JoAnn is a Senior Principal Analyst and has been with the office since 1987. Her responsibilities include the design and execution of computer-based analyses to meet information needs for the University, Board of Regents, State and Federal government, and various other entities as requested. The main focus of her work is on undergraduate enrollment management issues. She provides analyses, information, and research in the areas of retention and graduation of first-time freshmen and new transfer students; undergraduate student application and admissions; degree completions; various grant proposals or grant funded projects; and numerous ad-hoc requests.
