Results from the Graduate and Professional Student Survey (GPSS)
Lawrence and Edwards Campuses
Spring 2005
The Graduate and Professional Student Survey (GPSS) was designed to assess information on many facets of the graduate school
experience, from financial support to postgraduate plans. The GPSS was developed by the AAU Data Exchange to
be administered by member institutions with the intent that the data would be available for comparative analyses.
During Spring 2005, a link to the online GPSS survey was emailed to 4,803 Lawrence and Edwards
campus degree-seeking graduate students, with a response rate of 30.4% or 1,461 valid responses.
A sample of survey findings include:
- 71% of students rated the quality of their academic experience at KU
as either Excellent or Very Good
- 69% of students stated they would either Definitely or Probably select KU
if they were to start their graduate career again
- 66% of students rated the quality of their overall experience at KU
as either Excellent or Very Good
- 50% of students rated the quality of their student life experience at KU
as either Excellent or Very Good
The complete report of all survey findings across both campuses can be accessed through the link in the table below.
Links to shorter, 2-page summaries of survey highlights are available for KU overall as well as by academic unit.
The table also contains links to the survey instrument and a report on survey response rates by academic unit.
