Co-Curricular Activities Distribution of Points
Participating in co-curricular activities will introduce you to a range of international topics and people and will enhance your academic career and student experience. You can receive GAP points towards the Co-Curricular component of GAP. Here is a guide to the points you can receive for attending or participating in international events across campus. If you don't see what you're looking for listed here, be sure to check with the GAP Coordinator.
1. Clubs and Organizations
Any KU club or organization with an international theme
- 5 points per semester: member
- 10 points per semester: officer
- 5 points: participation in a single program or activity sponsored by a club or organization
Language tables
- 20 points per semester: to receive full credit, participants must attend at least 10 times.
- 10 points per semester: fewer than 10 times, minimum 5 times.
2. Events
Concerts, plays, art exhibits, lectures, films, seminars, conferences, brownbags, etc.
- 5 points: attending any event with an international theme or topic at the Lied Center, Murphy Hall, Dole Institute etc., or events sponsored by International Programs, various departments, Area Studies Centers, etc.
- 10 points: Featured Event of the Week (denoted by *** in the GAP events calendar)
- 10 points: performer or presenter
3. Volunteer Activities
- 30 points: per semester for semester long-commitment. For example, a conversation leader at AEC, ISSS volunteer, World Expo, Global Partners participant, etc.
- 15 points: half-semester commitment
- 10 points: leadership position
- 5 points: single activity
