Originally from Winfield, Kansas, Jenna had her first international experience at the age of 13 when she lived in Gaborone, Botswana with her family. Inspired to continue a path of international engagement, she attended Beloit College where she designed her own interdisciplinary major in International Health and was in the first cohort of students to graduate with an African Studies minor. She received two NSEP scholarships for study abroad in Morocco and studied French, Arabic, German and Swahili as an undergraduate student.
Jenna received her MPH from the University of Michigan School of Public Health in 2005. While a graduate student, she worked at the Arab Center for Economic and Social Services (ACCESS) in Dearborn. She also worked for six months as an English teacher at a bilingual school in Siguatepeque, Honduras. Prior to joining KU, Jenna worked for two years as an Outreach Coordinator for the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.
Jenna has been to all 48 states in the continental US and has also visited South Africa, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Tanzania, Spain, Mexico and El Salvador. Now living in Kansas, she enjoys exploring the Sunflower State, coffee shop hopping, trying ethnic cuisines, geocaching, being outdoors and dreaming of the next time she will travel abroad. Having lived abroad as a teenager with her family, as a student studying abroad and as a working professional, she is happy to now be working in the field of international education!
