New Student Orientation offers two-day orientation programs in June and July for new freshman joining the KU community. The program allows you and your family members or guests more time at KU. You will have the opportunity to interact with KU faculty and staff, get to know other new students and your Orientation Assistant, familiarize yourself with campus, enroll in your first semester courses, and get answers to your specific questions. Evening activities will include dinner and interest sessions.
Orientation is important to your success as a KU student, so we expect you to participate in all orientation activities. Orientation sessions build upon each other in order to prepare you for your transition to KU. Furthermore, advising and enrollment is contingent upon attendance at all interest sessions during the program. Students who miss sessions will not be advised or allowed to enroll & may be required to return for another orientation session. Be prepared to stay until 8:00 p.m. on Day 1 and 5:00 p.m. on Day 2 of your orientation program.
Orientation is designed for students based on major. Because we prepare individual advising information, you will only be allowed to register for a date that corresponds to your major or school. Refer to your letter of Admission, or contact the Office of Admissions & Scholarships at www.admissions.ku.edu/status, for the school to which you have been admitted. If you have not decided on a major, you have probably been admitted to the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
If you absolutely cannot attend a program in June or July, you may elect to attend a one-day program on August 19.
