Multicultural Scholars Program in the Humanities

Welcome!

The Multicultural Scholars Program in the Humanities (MSPH) is for undergraduate students at KU who are seeking a degree in any of the several humanistic fields of study. Students majoring in any of the following fields are eligible to apply:

  • African & African-American Studies
  • American Studies
  • Classics
  • East Asian Languages & Cultures
  • English
  • European Studies
  • French & Italian
  • Germanic Languages & Literatures
  • History History of Art
  • Humanities & Western Civilization
  • Latin American Studies
  • Philosophy
  • Religious Studies
  • Russian, Eastern European, & Eurasian Studies
  • Slavic Languages & Literatures
  • Spanish & Portuguese
  • Theatre & Film
  • Women’s Studies

Students in MSPH come from various racial and ethnic backgrounds which are currently underrepresented in the humanities. First generation college students and students who are eligible for full Pell grants are also encouraged to apply. All aspiring MSPH applicants:

  • are serious, motivated students who are well prepared for humanities degrees
  • seek excellence in their academic work
  • are open to working with other students to enhance their education
  • seek cultural and educational experiences that broaden their appreciation and understanding of the arts, humanities, and sciences

All participants in MSPH must be citizens or permanent residents of the USA.
