Admissions Requirements
Applicants to the Molecular Biosciences graduate program should have received strong undergraduate training in the biological or chemical sciences. Undergraduate curriculum should have included general and organic chemistry, calculus, physics, and biology (e.g. genetics, cell biology, biochemistry). Limited course deficiencies can be made up in the summer before entry into the program, or during the first year of graduate study. Scores from the general (aptitude) portion of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) are required. The program particularly favors students who have engaged in research during their undergraduate careers.
International applicants are required to submit scores for the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a speaking component (the internet-based TOEFL). To be considered for admission, international applicants are required to have a score of 24 or higher on the speaking portion of the internet-based TOEFL exam; or to have a score of at least a 50 on the Test of Spoken English (TSE).
Admission to the graduate program is competitive, with only a limited number of applicants accepted per year. Anticipated class size is approximately 10-15 students per year. Successful applicants generally have GRE scores that place them in the top one-third in each category and a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
