Travel Tips
Kansas City International (MCI) is a relatively small airport. Rental car agencies and shuttle busses are easily accessible from each of its three terminals. Restaurant services are available, and travel time is usually swift due to its unique design. Picking up a snack is advisable prior to departing, because there are not many food choices between MCI and Lawrence. Drive time to Lawrence is approximately 50 minutes, and the best route is via Interstate-70 (Click here for directions). Airport shuttles cost $63 round trip, and arrive in Lawrence in an hour. Shuttles drop passengers off at the local Holiday Inn roughly 1 mile from the University of Kansas. Lawrence is a small town with an established public transportation system. Bus services provide a direct route to the downtown area from many local hotels. Connecting services provide direct transport to the University. Bus fares are $1 or $2.75 for a day pass (reduced fares are available for students and seniors). Weather in early March is often brisk, so warm cloths are appropriate.
