Communal land titling and tenure systems in Mexico

Herlihy edited a volume with Greg Knapp (UT-Austin, Geography) on participatory mapping.

He is presently editing a volume with Kent Mathewson (LSU, Geography) and Craig Revels (Portland State, Geography) honoring the Latin Americanist geographer William V. Davidson.

He did preliminary field work on communal land titling in Loreto, Peru and La Mosquitia, Nicaragua between February and August 2004.

Peter will be researching communal land titling in Mexico while teaching at the Universidad Autonoma de San Luis Potosí from January to July 2005 under a Fulbright-Garcia Robles Grant.

Tropical rain forest peoples in Latin America, especially Central America; specific research regions include the Huasteca, La Mosquitia, Darién, and Loreto; research interests include cultural and political ecology, participatory research and participatory mapping, nature conservation and indigenous land right.
