Robert Hurst is an Assistant Professor in the Film Area of the Department of Theatre and Film at the University of Kansas. He primarily teaches Film and Video Production classes. He joined the University of Kansas faculty in August of 2006. Robert has been making fiction and documentary films for more than fifteen years. His films include Faker (1999), a 30-minute short about a genetically-engineered but defective girl. Bloom (2001) details a woman's solution to living with Alzheimer's. Burned (2005) examines surveillance and fear in post-911 America. Other works consider identity, psychic readings, and include live-action and animated films. He also collaborates as a sound designer on fiction and documentary pictures. Recent work includes Kansas vs. Darwin and Fall From Grace (both 2007) and Bunker Hill (2008). Current research in development includes Saints, a fictional feature about an Iraq War veteran living with Post-Traumatic Stress Syndrome.
