Over
the years, KU's Department of Theatre and Film has participated in a wide variety
of Study Abroad Programs.
Recent examples of
Theatre Study Abroad programs include:
Shakespeare
in Performance
Stratford-Upon-Avon, England

Students studied Shakespeare performance
in Stratford-Upon-Avon, the great playwright's birthplace, for 28 days in the
summer of 2005. Professor Paul Meier led a group to the picturesque English
riverside town that is home to The Royal Shakespeare Company, perhaps the greatest
producing company of the Bard's work. They studied with members of the company,
saw all the shows, enjoyed excursions to London and other places of interest.
Information about the upcoming Summer 2007 program is available on the KU
Study Abroad web site.
Summer Theatre
in Greece

Students
in KU's 2002 program in Greece strike a pose in an amphitheatre in the ancient
city of Delphi.
The 2004 program offered
participants an opportunity to be exposed to the Greek culture and language
in its native environment, right in the midst of the township of Katohi, a rural
farm community of Greece, and to experience preparing and performing a Greek
tragedy in the ancient outdoor theatre of Oiniades.
The Theatre Production
The production, Sophocles' tragedy, Women of Trachis, was part of the
Oiniades Summer Theatre Festival in Katohi with a performance on July 27, 2004.
A portion of the play was in Greek, but most lines were spoken in English.
