Keynote Speaker

Michael Dilich

Michael Dilich:

Michael grew up in Chicago where he earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology in 1966. Mike's research interests since 1982 have focused on safety and accident analysis related to highway and off-highway vehicles. After completing a comprehensive research program concerning causation and prevention of commercial vehicle accidents for the Federal Highway Administration, he co-authored the “Commercial Vehicle Preventable Accident Manual.” His research concerning human factors issues related to driver response in sudden emergencies was recognized by the Human Factors Committee of the Society of Automotive Engineers as a substantial contribution to that field study. During recent years, Mike and his colleagues have been studying cognitive biases that distort judgment of causation and attribution of fault in accident analysis. Mike holds a Full Commission Accreditation from the Accreditation Commission of Traffic Accident Reconstructionists. He had been qualified in numerous federal and state courts over the last 25 years to testify in matters of accident investigation and analysis. Mike is currently the Director of Research at Foresight Reconstruction, Inc. in the Chicago area.
