Pre- and Post-Processors for Synchro/SimTraffic, TS/PP-Draft and NOSTOP, with TEAPAC2004 Seamless Integration

PRESYNCHRO, PRETSPPD and PRENOSTOP are new programs released by Strong Concepts as part of the TEAPAC2004 package of seamlessly-integrated traffic and transportation engineering software, as described below.

PRESYNCHRO/TEAPAC prepares and runs SYNCHRO-5 and SYNCHRO-6 input files, PRETSPPD/TEAPAC prepares and runs TS/PP-DRAFT input files, and PRENOSTOP/TEAPAC prepares and runs NOSTOP \input files, all using the standard TEAPAC graphical dialogs and traffic engineering terms for each signal in the arterial or network. All the information that is needed by SYNCHRO, TS/PP-DRAFT and NOSTOP for each intersection is coded automatically, including the always-complex signal timing and phasing information. The SYNCHRO input files can also be used to run its companion SIMTRAFFIC simulation and animation. In addition, complete networks built in SYNCHRO can be imported into PRESYNCHRO so they can be further analyzed by any of the other TEAPAC programs such as SIGNAL2000 for true-HCM capacity analysis and HCM-optimization, PRETRANSYT/TRANSYT-7F for time-proven network simulation and optimization, PRENETSIM/CORSIM and VISSIM for robust, validated simulation and animation.

If the individual operation of each signal in the arterial or network is designed with SIGNAL2000, and coordinated timings are designed with other programs like PREPASSR/PASSER-II and PRETRANSYT/TRANSYT-7F, then PRESYNCHRO, PRETSPPD and PRENOSTOP can use these data files directly so SYNCHRO/TSPPDRAFT/NOSTOP results can be generated without any additional data input. SYNCHRO produces on-screen color graphics and animations, TS/PP-DRAFT produces very informative, colorful, printable, on-screen time-space diagrams and platoon-progression diagrams, and NOSTOP performs simplified bandwidth optimization. If the offsets or other timings are changed or optimized by any of these programs, the changed timings can be imported back into PRESYNCHRO/PRETSPPD/PRENOSTOP for assessment by direct transfer to programs like PRETRANSYT/TRANSYT-7F or PRENETSIM/CORSIM for simulation of the modified timings. This allows SYNCHRO/TSPPDRAFT/NOSTOP to be used in a seamlessly-integrated fashion for both evaluation of optimized timings and optimization of offsets.

Since SIGNAL2000, PRENOSTOP, PRETSPPD, PREPASSR, PRETRANSYT, PRENETSIM and PRESYNCHRO are all seamlessly-integrated, interactive programs with batch capabilities, these seven programs provide an ideal system for iteratively evaluating various signal control scenarios such as various sub-system boundary possibilities and changing geometrics or re-assigned volumes. Since SIGNAL2000 can be run quickly to optimize local conditions for such changes, and then PRENOSTOP, PREPASSR, PRETRANSYT, PRENETSIM, PRESYNCHRO and PRETSPPD can be run using SIGNAL2000's saved data, multiple scenario runs of NOSTOP, PASSER-II-02, TRANSYT-7F, NETSIM/CORSIM, SYNCHRO/SIMTRAFFIC and TS/PP-DRAFT can be run quickly and efficiently. VISSIM also reads TEAPAC2004 data files directly for robust system simulation and animation. PRESYNCHRO/PRETSPPD/PRENOSTOP also produce a tabular summary of signal timings showing the phasing, and can share their network information with SITE for traffic impact studies, get projected volumes from SITE, get existing volumes from TURNS turn count peak period analyses, all coordinated with MUTCD2000/2003 signal and multi-way stop warrants analyses from WARRANTS. All of these programs are available from PC-Trans. Educational and multi-site discounts are available. Functional demos are available as free downloads.

PRESYNCHRO, PRETSPPD and PRENOSTOP all include the unique TEAPAC Visual Mode which provides an intuitive, graphical user interface as a true Windows program. This Visual Mode is the same TEAPAC2004 interface found in all other TEAPAC programs. The Visual Mode also provides a complete and fully-indexed on-screen user guide and context-sensitive help and error diagnostics. Other powerful input methods include the Tabular View and the Manual Mode. See the complete program description for more details at the PC-Trans online catalog. PRESYNCHRO, PRETSPPD and PRENOSTOP are also available as part of the TEAPAC Traffic Engineering Package (TE-36X1 & TP-18X1) and the TEAPAC Signal Timing Analysis Package (TE-36X2). PRENOSTOP is also available as part of the TEAPAC Site Impact Analysis Package (TP-18X1).
