Phil, an Ethan Allen Scholar, graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Central Arkansas with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and a minor in Writing. While at UCA, Phil tutored students in all stages of the writing and speech process at the university's Writing Center . He was one of the founders of UCA's Ultimate Frisbee team and was a player, coach, and captain. He was also a member of Pi Sigma Alpha, the political science honor society.

Phil's devotion to public service came from his work with children with special needs. During college and after graduation, he served as a counselor, summer camps supervisor, and weekend camp assistant coordinator at Camp Aldersgate , a camp for youth with special needs. For three years, Phil assisted in the daily care of campers, supervision of volunteers and counselors, and coordination of program-wide activities. This experience taught him valuable interpersonal skills and strengthened his commitment to public service.

Phil is a management intern in the City Manager's Office in Overland Park , Kansas . His projects include assisting in the drafting of an environmental sustainability plan, assessing city consumption of natural resources, and coordinating with departments to update the budget book and departmental performance measures. He also works alongside the private sector outsourcing city projects.

Phil looks forward to a position that will provide a holistic view of city operations and daily management decisions. He is interested in enriching his current skills and gaining new ones under a challenging and supportive mentor.
