Megan graduated with distinction from the University of Kansas in 2007 and is a Richard B. Chesney and Mary Morill-Litchfield Scholar. As an undergraduate, Megan majored in Public Administration and Spanish. She is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa and Sigma Delta Pi (Spanish) Honors Societies.

Several experiences led Megan to a career in public service. She volunteered at a nonprofit organization in Chicago where she spent her freshman year of college. Megan also served as an undergraduate research assistant for a nonprofit voting project and delivered a presentation to a nonprofit organization about civic engagement in the voting process. Megan organized an educational trip for students to the US-Mexico border to learn about the multifaceted issue of immigration. Megan was ultimately drawn to a career in public service because it will allow her to serve the community as a whole productively.

Megan has recently served in the Risk Management division in the City of Lawrence, KS, where she learned about workers' compensation and other liability issues. She also completed a broad staffing survey of cities nationwide and gave a presentation to the Lawrence City Commission with her findings. Megan is currently working for the City of Bonner Springs, KS. As the Management Intern, she is working on a grant application, helping to craft administrative policies and working on an energy efficiency program. Megan also serves as the Community Service Chair for her MPA class.

Megan hopes to find an internship in a large metropolitan area that will allow her to serve a diverse population and learn about a wide variety of urban issues.
