Jared Cobb

Jared graduated magna cum laude from Florida State University with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Economics and a minor in Urban Planning. While at FSU, Jared was involved in a number of organizations, including Habitat for Humanity, Relay for Life, and Golden Key International Honour Society, where he served as Sponsorship Director.

As an undergraduate, he was given two first-class opportunities that helped shape his interest in policy and local governance. The first opportunity came with the Washington, D.C.-based Young Voter’s Alliance as a field manager. With the help of a dedicated team of canvassers, the organization was able to reach out to over 40,000 young voters in the Tallahassee metropolitan area. A second opportunity came in the form of an internship with Pinellas County Commissioner Susan Latvala. In this capacity, Jared was able to gain a better appreciation for and learn more about the inner-workings of local government.

Currently, Jared is working in the City Administrator’s Office of Basehor, KS. His experience, thus far, has been an enjoyable one. Working for the small town, he appreciates the approachability of the employees, small town charm, and the ability to make a difference in the community. Among the wide array of projects he has worked on, the most noteworthy are the development of a capital improvements program and a city pay plan.
