KUCIMAT Winter 2007 Newsletter

President's Message

Happy 2007!  I hope the New Year will be a time to re-energize as well as a time to reconnect with friends and colleagues within our profession across the nation.   As you begin the year, remember those who helped you through your career and your obligation to assist others in the city management.  It only takes a few minutes to make a phone call or send an email to a colleague with an encouraging word or share a funny story to remind them that the KUCIMAT network is very much alive and well.

The KUCIMAT board met during the ICMA conference in September.  We have a tremendous group to work with again this year.   We are planning to continue the committee structure that was set up this past year by Eric Levitt and hope that many of you will find a way to get involved in your alumni association over the course of this next year.

The board discussed our ongoing fundraising efforts and also talked about various ways to challenge our members on raising funds for our program.   Please answer the call when your classmates contact you regarding our fundraising efforts.   The city management profession continues to seek the best and the brightest to lead our cities, by supporting the Edwin O. Stene Program you are contributing to the future leaders of our communities.

If you are interested in participating in the KUCIMAT committees (Recruitment, Communications and Endowment) or have ideas that you would like your board to address, I hope you will contact me.

All the best,

Susan Sherman
