KUCIMATS’ Generosity Benefits the KUPA Department

We have begun what may be the last three-year pledge drive and are off to a great start!  Prior to and at ICMA this year, we collected pledges totaling over $70,000 for the next three years. A list of Pacesetters for this pledge drive is below. Pledge cards have been mailed out to all KUCIMATS, giving everyone an opportunity to participate. The annual pledge drive allows the Department to supplement the operating funds provided by the University which provides less than 75% of our needs.  For example, although three new faculty have joined the department this past year, we received no increase in operating funds to support them. The continual support from KUCIMATS, both in the form of donations and dues, encourages us. It is what permits us to take the extra step in pursuit of our goals. We count on KUCIMATS in so many ways and very much appreciate your continuing support.

In addition to annual giving, the past few years have seen wonderful KUCIMAT financial support in endowed funds. Mike Wildgen, Lee and Jerry Smith, the Daicoff family, Dick Chesney, and the Nalbandian family have each pledged $30,000 to support the department in perpetuity.  Art Davis has taken advantaged of planned giving and included the department in a bequest.  Also, we are working to establish the Joe Harkins/Marvin Harder fund and the Paul Reaume fund.  Please let us know if you would like to lend your support to any of these efforts or your own special effort.

We have been working closely with the KU Endowment Association to coordinate our annual giving efforts.  Kathleen Brady (MPA Class of 1995) with the Endowment Association has been very helpful in this effort.  If we are successful, all solicitation contact will be through Endowment.  We will keep you informed as we continue to develop this relationship which will be a model for the University.

If you would like to contribute to Public Administration or a specific scholarship fund, you can do so through any of the following methods:

  • Make a check payable to KU Endowment and mail to: Kathleen Brady, P.O. Box 928, Lawrence, KS 66044-0928
  • Use a credit card through www.kuendowment.org/donate
  • Call 1-800-444-4201 to make your donation
