KUCIMAT Summer 2006 Newsletter - KUCIMAT Award Nominations Needed

KUCIMATs seek to promote and foster the professional self-improvement of its membership, to advance the urban management profession through its members and to assist and promote the continued improvement and development of the University of Kansas master in public administration program.  The purpose of the KUCIMAT Awards Program is to recognize those members who have furthered the purposes of KUCIMATs through meritorious service to the public management profession.

Stene Award for Managerial Excellence
This award recognizes individuals who have performed in an exceptional manner in the management of the organization in which they are employed.  This may include establishment of a new and innovative program, resolutions of a difficult organizational problem or completion of a long-term organization goal. 
Previously recipients are: Dennis Hays, William Noonan, Cole Hendrix, Melinda Carlton, Gary Greer, Joseph Hoefgen, Wally Douthwaite, Leon Churchill, Jan Perkins and John Nachbar.

Profile in Courage Award
This award recognizes individuals who have made personal and/or professional progress by overcoming obstacles through exceptional courage, fortitude and adherence to the high ideals which exemplify the urban management profession.
Previously recipients are: David Davis, Teddy Ryan, Dena Laurent Sorenson, Tansy Hayward and Sandra Tripp-Jones.

Intern Excellence Award
This award recognizes interns who have performed in an exceptional manner during the internship year.
Previously recipients are: Elisabeth Roth, Cynthia Boecker, Melisa Leal, Shanna Sims, Sherilyn Lombos, Michael Baker, Jacob Speer, Shannon Kroeger Meadows, Bernard Seeger, Katie (Daniel) Corder and Jeremy Smith.

Lifetime Achievement Award
This award recognizes individuals who have, through cumulative career achievements and successes, furthered the purpose of the KUCIMAT organization.
Previously recipients are: Leland Nelson, Donald Pipes, Robert Kipp, Richard Thomas, George Schrader, Gene Denton, Gerald Fox, Marion Goodell, Dick Chesney, Lou Fox and Alan Morris.

The awards are given at the KUCIMAT banquet during the annual ICMA conference.  Nominations are welcome from KUCIMATs and others!  Simply send a nomination by September 10 telling why you think the KUCIMAT deserves the award.
