It truly was an honor for such a well respected and successful professional in both the public and private sectors to take the time to discuss his personal experiences with us. Despite all his many accomplishments and successes, Mr. Kipp exudes and air of humility and integrity in all that he does. He has certainly become a role model for me as a young professional in my pursuit of integrity in management and administration.

Bob Kipp discussed a number of topics including downtown revitalization and the differences between Crown Center, the Country Club Plaza, and the Kansas City downtown area. It was an enlightening and informative presentation as Kipp discussed the problems associated with both Crown Center and the Country Club Plaza in terms of downtown revitalization and that it is not only a funding problem but involves design complications. Then taking a step, backward Kipp discussed the history of the riverfront landing and how Kansas City sprawls to the south over time. The trend was discussed in terms that would be difficult to reverse. Also discussed were topics of balancing family life and city management, delegating authority to administrators, and dealing with mistakes within a career. Overall Kipp is a speaker who generates a presence in a room not through being overpowering but through careful introspective tone and brilliant work economics.

I really enjoyed the lucheon with Bob Kipp. It was an honor to meet such a distinguished and successful graduate of the MPA program at KU. As much as he has accomplished throughout his professional career, Bob Kipp remains a humble man, eager to extend a welcoming hand to students beginning their careers in public service. The widsom and advice he shares is something that cannot be gained from reading a textbook. I greatly appreciated the hospitality and knowledge he offered.

I just wanted to say that Mr. Kipp was incredible. Occasionally in life I have had the privilege to meet with men of his cool demeanor. Even in the short time we were able to speak with him, I could tell he is truly one of a kind. I would keep sending class after class to meet with him. As he is truly remarkable.
