School of Pharmacy Annual Career Placement Day set for Jan. 25
LAWRENCE — The University of Kansas School of Pharmacy will host its annual Senior Pharmacy Student Career Placement Day and Undergraduate Pharmacy Student Career Information Fair from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25, at the Lawrence Holiday Inn Holidome, 200 McDonald Drive.
About 100 May 2012 doctor of pharmacy degree candidates and 150 undergraduate pharmacy students will participate in the annual event, where they will learn about post-graduate career and residency positions as well as summer internships and part-time employment opportunities for returning students.
At least 33 potential employers will attend, including representatives from nine corporate chain pharmacies, four independent pharmacies, 10 hospital pharmacies, one mail order pharmacy company and two branches of the armed services. Ten of the companies offer post-graduate residency programs.
The career fair is coordinated through the School of Pharmacy dean’s office. Associate Dean Gene Hotchkiss acts as the school’s career placement coordinator and is responsible for planning the event. The school also provides assistance to students in the job search process, helping them in the creation of résumés and the improvement of interview skills.
