Public censure

Mahesh Visvanathan, research assistant professor in the K-INBRE Bioinformatics Core Facility, was found to have engaged in scholarly misconduct by duplicate publication of the following two articles in two different journals: “Systems Biology Approach for Mapping TNFα-NFκB Mathematical Model to a Protein Interaction Map” and “Integrative Approach for Combining TNFα-NFκB Mathematical Model to a Protein Interaction Connectivity Map.” In addition, he engaged in scholarly misconduct by granting undeserved authorship on both articles. Furthermore, Dr. Visvanathan attempted to mislead the Investigating Committee about work that supposedly distinguished the second article from the first article. Public censure and dismissal from employment were the sanctions imposed for the scholarly misconduct. Dr. Visvanathan resigned his employment prior to the effective date of dismissal.  This announcement represents public censure of Dr. Visvanathan for his actions.
