Professional Clothing Closet extends hours ahead of Career Fair

LAWRENCE, KS — To help students prepare for the University Career Fair on Feb. 8, 2012, the Professional Clothing Closet will extend its hours into the evening during the following dates and times:

  • 5 p.m.-7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2
  • 5 p.m.-7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6

The Professional Clothing Closet is located in the University Career Center, Room 110, in the Burge Union. The closet, which is open year-round, provides KU students with free professional clothing for career fairs, interviews and professional work settings.

Delta Epsilon Iota (DEI), a career-focused honor society and organizer of the Professional Clothing Closet, has received an overwhelming number of donations the year.

"I am extremely impressed with the wonderful donations we received this fall,” said Erin Wolfram, assistant director, University Career Center. “I really hope students take advantage of this service because they can quickly and easily get a name-brand suit for free without even leaving campus, which will really help them make a great first impression at the career fair or upcoming interviews."

KU students are allowed up to five items, and small monetary donations are welcomed but not required. All monetary donations made this spring will be given to St. Jude's Children's Miracle Network.

The Professional Clothing Closet's inventory can be accessed at

The Professional Clothing Closet is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Students do not need an appointment. Dressing rooms are also available.

Delta Epsilon Iota will continue to take donated items of clothing throughout the year. Any donations may be dropped off between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at the University Career Center, Burge Union, Room 110. Acceptable items include full suits, jackets/blazers, professional shirts, slacks, skirts, professional dresses, ties, briefcases and portfolios.
