Policy Office director appointed
Jeannette Johnson has been appointed director of the Policy
Office, a division of the Office of the Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor
that was established in 2008 with the introduction of the electronic KU policy
library. The
role of the Policy
Office is to facilitate the development, review and dissemination of
University policies for the Lawrence campus. As director, Johnson is responsible for the oversight and
development of the electronic policy library and for implementation and
maintenance of a well-defined and user-friendly policy development
process. She serves as a resource
to the larger University community on matters related to Board of Regents and
University policies and procedures and on policy development and
implementation.
Johnson earned a bachelor's degree in Germanic languages and literatures from the University of Illinois, Urbana, and holds two advanced degrees in the same field from the University of Kansas. She joined the KU administration in 1976 as assistant to the executive vice chancellor. She was an assistant to the dean of the School of Education from 1988 until 1992, when she returned to the Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor. Since 1996 she has served as an assistant to the provost and executive vice chancellor. Though she has held a variety of responsibilities, in recent years her work has been focused in the area of policy.
