Meet the November employees of the month

The University of Kansas has announced its November employees of the month:

University Support Staff Employee of the Month
November 2012
Alan Walker
Start date: 2005

Current title: Instrument technician, Department of Chemical & Petroleum Engineering

What that means: Though electrical and instrumentation work is an integral part of Walker's job, his duties also include supporting post-docs and P hD students in the running of experiments, developing improved methods of measurement, and providing insights into the feasibility of process and equipment options for research.

Notable: Though Alan is the sole departmental staff for technical workshop projects, his contributions don’t stop there and often cross discipline boundaries. He has done innovative work for Geology, the Transportation Research Institute, and other units. He also has contributed to the work of the KU Natural History Museum, particularly in fabricating demonstration models to support their K-12 science outreach programs.

November 2012
Erin Wolfram

Start date: 2006
Current title: Assistant director, University Career Center
What that means: Wolfram is a member of the Career Networks program team in the UCC, oversees the UCC internships, conducts individual career coaching with students, and serves as staff adviser to the KU chapter of Delta Epsilon Iota, a career-focused student honor society.

Notable: Having once taken the Job Search class at UCC, Erin now teaches that class and many others. As a certified etiquette expert she organizes two dinners annually to give students the opportunity to gain those necessary skills. Seeing a need among students going on job interviews, she helped create the Professional Clothing Closet as a resource for them.  She is described as a talented, dependable and dedicated professional who puts in long hours in service to the UCC and KU students.
