KU offering inaugural internship symposium

LAWRENCE —Delta Epsilon Iota, the career-focused honor society at the University of Kansas, in partnership with the University Career Center, will host the inaugural Internship Symposium from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 13. The event will be on the third level of Burge Union and is open to all KU students.

Five industry-specific panels will include employers and former interns who will talk about their internship opportunities and experiences. In addition, panelists will answer questions from the student audience.

“The Internship Symposium will be a great event for students to network with employers and interns from specific industries in the local area,” said Kelsey Sparks, Delta Epsilon Iota public relations manager. “Students can learn about the internships and receive inside tips to help them secure these opportunities.”

Each panel will last 45 minutes; students can attend two different panels:

Session one: 5 p.m.-5:45 p.m.

Session two: 6 p.m.-6:45 p.m.

The event will include the following industry panels:

  • Advertising/Marketing/Public Relations/Design/Event Planning
  • Nonprofit
  • Government/History/Political Science
  • Business/Management/Sales
  • Engineering/Technology/Architecture

Students should dress in business-professional or business-casual attire and bring copies of their resumes.
