KU group plans charity dinner to benefit Wounded Warriors
LAWRENCE — The University of Kansas chapter of Young Americans for Liberty, a nonpartisan group, will host a formal charity dinner for the Wounded Warriors Project with College Republicans, Young Democrats and the Ecumenical Campus Ministries on Nov. 16.
The charity dinner will take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Big 12 Room of the Kansas Union. All proceeds will go to the Wounded Warriors Project, an effort to assist severely injured service members.
Several speakers will be present at the dinner, including State Rep. Barbara Ballard, D-Lawrence, State Rep. Tom Sloan, R-Lawrence, and Operation Payback founder Daniel Gilyeat.
“This is a great chance for people from every political group to come together and support a good cause,” said Laurissa Marcotte, Young Americans for Liberty vice president.
The suggested donation to attend is $25, which can be made at the door or in advance online.
Young Americans for Liberty, College Republicans, Young Democrats and Ecumenical Campus Ministries are student groups devoted to cultivating diversity and discourse on the KU campus.
