Join Brazilian Week festivities

LAWRENCE — Six weeks before Easter, one of the largest parties on the planet occurs in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Just as people gathered in New Orleans on Feb. 17 with masks and beads, Brazilians danced samba, dressed in extravagant costumes and participated in highly competitive parades.

The University of Kansas Brazilian Student Association hosts the largest Carnaval party in the Midwest. Every year people come from all around the U.S. to the event, often selling the party out at 800 capacity. KU BRASA will host the 2012 event Saturday, Feb. 25, at Abe and Jake’s, with on- and off-campus events all week long.
