Advising
Welcome to the ESP Advising page. Here you will find the advising schedule, faculty contact info, and tips to guide you through the enrollment process.
Students considering a major in Environmental Studies should first see an advisor, to make sure this area of study is right for them. Contact the University Advising Center to set up an appointment, or meet with Heidi Hulse.
Students who have declared and are established in Department of Environmental Studies should make an advising appointment with a Department faculty advisor. Please bring your ARTS form to your advising appointment.

Important Tips for Enrollment:
Prior to enrollment, make sure you do not have any holds on your account. Check Enroll & Pay to see if you have any holds.
Also, make sure you have declared the major. If you have 90 or more credit hours on your transcript(including current semester enrollment), you will not be allowed to enroll unless you have declared a major. Your ARTS form should indicate whether or not you have declared the actual major, or have only declared "interest," which is not the same thing.
Declaring an environmental studies major is easy and will avoid lots of hassle during the enrollment period. Stop by the Environmental Studies office in 252 Snow, or the CLAS office in 109 Strong, for a major declaration form, complete it, and turn it in at the front desk.
What to Bring:
Be sure to bring your Advising ARTS form with you to your appointment. This, along with a course advising chart, will help both your advisor and you in determining which courses to take, and when. Also, please review the curriculum requirements prior to the appointment. The forms outlining the B.A., B.G.S. and B.S. core requirements are available for download on our Curriculum page.
Appointment Cancellations:
If you cannot make your advising appointment, please be courteous and contact the advisor with whom you have made the appointment, preferably at least a day in advance. This will benefit faculty and other students who also need to make advising appointments.
Feedback is Appreciated:
Your feedback on the advising process is very important! Please fill out an Advisor Evaluation Form and submit this after your advising appointment. Your anonymity is guaranteed, but most importantly, your contribution to improving our services will benefit all majors in Environmental Studies!
