Fire Reports

Federal law requires that every University that operates on-campus student housing facilities maintain a written and easily understood log of all fires that occur in such facilities, including records of the nature, date, time and general location of each fire. The law requires that the log be available for public inspection for the most recent 60-day period and that additions or changes to the log be made within two business days of the receipt of the information. It also requires that any portion of the log older than 60 days be made available within two business days of a request for inspection.

For purposes of this fire log, a "fire" is defined as "any instance of open flame or other burning in a place not intended to contain the burning or in an uncontrolled manner." Fires do not include smoke that is produced due to cooking food.
