Complaint Form Instructions
Maintaining the community's trust, confidence and support are vital to successful law enforcement service at the University of Kansas. The employees of this department strive to maintain that support and encourage anyone with a complaint to let us know.
Any complaint about the conduct or performance of police officers, security officers, communications specialist, civilian employees or student employees will be taken seriously and investigated fully. I ask that you use the complaint form to fully explain the circumstances of the incident and why you believe the employee or employees acted inappropriately.
You may bring or mail the complaint form to the KU Public Safety Office or e-mail it to firstname.lastname@example.org. Upon receipt of your complaint, you may be contacted for additional information. At the conclusion of the investigation, you will receive a written response regarding the disposition of the investigation. However, you will not be provided with confidential personnel information, including information about disciplinary action taken against the employee(s).
This process will not determine the lawfulness of an arrest or citation. Guilt or innocence of a criminal or traffic charge, or liability for violating rights, is determined in separate court proceedings. You will need to contact a private attorney on these matters.
Please complete the complaint form as detailed as possible. Please include specific actions and statements and avoid conclusions in describing any allegations of misconduct.Please print form, complete legibly and mail or deliver to:
