Major Requirements

College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (BA & BGS)

1. 30 hours of art history, or 27 hours of art history and three hours of studio art, design, or aesthetics (PHIL 362, 662, or the equivalent).

2. Distribution requirements:
At least one course numbered 200 or above in each of the following five areas:

A.) Ancient/Medieval
B.) Renaissance/Baroque
C.) Modern, including 19th & 20th
centuries, American, and History of Photography
D.) East Asian
E.) Non-Western (East Asian or African)

School of Fine Arts (BFA)

1. 30 hours of art history

2. Distribution requirements: At least one course numbered 200 or above in each of the following five areas:

A.) Ancient/Medieval
B.) Renaissance/Baroque
C.) Modern, including 19th & 20th
centuries, American, and History of
Photography
D.) East Asian
E.) Non-Western (East Asian or African)

3. 30 hours of studio art including the basic program, and one course each in painting, sculpture, and printmaking.

4. 9 hours of English.

5. 16 hours of one foreign language.

6. 21 hours of CLAS electives, including at least 6 hours of history.

7. 18 hours of general electives.
