KU Libraries

Japan 'Standing Amida Buddha', 15th Century

Over many years, the East Asian Library and Murphy Art and Architecture Library at the University of Kansas have built major collections with an emphasis on the arts of China and Japan. Currently both libraries are also increasing their holdings in Korean art and related fields. All of the major Asian art journals in Western languages, Chinese, and Japanese are available. Art books and journals in East Asian languages are housed in the Murphy Art and Architecture library. To check the holdings of these libraries, consult the KU libraries' online catalogue.

Nelson-Atkins Museum Library

The substantial East Asian collection of the Spencer Art Reference Library at the Nelson-Atkins Museum in Kansas City, Missouri, is another invaluable resource available to KU students.

The combined holdings of these libraries make it possible to do advanced research in both Chinese and Japanese art at the University of Kansas. Any materials not available locally can be obtained through KU's efficient system of interlibrary loan.
