Fred Meyer grant supports ROXX After-School program

SEASIDE - Sunset Empire Park and Recreation District has received a $500 grant from the Fred Meyer Foundation for its ROXX After-School and Summer Free Youth programs. The grant is intended to go toward an educational activity which will teach youth how to shop for, prepare and cook a full meal.

ROXX, which stands for “Recreation Opportunities make X-Treme X-periences” offers free educational, athletic and recreational activities to kids from elementary school age to high school.

Mary Blake, general manager for the Sunset Empire Park and Recreation District, which offers the ROXX activities says that the Fred Meyer Foundation sought out the organization specifically after hearing from employees about the program.
