NATIONAL GRANTS FOR BUSINESS PARTNERSHIPS


Toshiba Math and Science Grants
Toshiba America Foundation offers grants over $5,000 for improving student achievement in science and math. Public or private school teachers in grades 7-12, are eligible for funds to improve classroom teaching and learning in science and math. Applications are accepted twice a year, February 1, 2006 and August 1, 2006.

Dollar General Back-to-School Grants
Dollar General grants $5,000 to K-12 schools in need of financial assistance. The grants provide for the implementation of new programs and for the purchase of new equipment, materials, or software. Dollar General will award two grants in each of their 33 operating states and must be within 20 miles of the nearest Dollar General Store. Deadline is August 11.

Balance Bar Physical Activity Grants
Balance Bar Community Grants provide financial support to enable communities and organizations to passionately pursue physical activities that enrich their lives. The grant must be dedicated to a project that will provide organization members, as well as community residents, with opportunities to lead healthy, active lifestyles. Only 501(c)3 nonprofits are eligible. Deadline is August 30, 2006.

CVS Pharmacy Community Grants
CVS Pharmacy Community Grants provide funding for public schools K-12 that are expanding programs promoting inclusion of children with physical disabilities in all aspects of school functions or creating opportunities or facilities which give greater access to physical movement and play. Grant amounts vary. Visit the web site to determine eligiblity. All CVS/pharmacy Community Grant applications must be submitted online between January and October of each calendar year.

Coca-Cola Foundation Grants
The Coca-Cola Foundation goal is to empower people to create better lives for themselves, their families, and their neighborhoods. They will support: innovative K-12 public school programs, teacher development programs, and smaller projects dealing specifically with the elementary and secondary classrooms. One may apply for these funds to enhance classroom resources, pursue teacher professional development opportunities, and update curriculum lesson plans. Rolling deadline.

Lowe's Outdoor Classroom Grant Program
Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation, International Paper and National Geographic Explorer! classroom magazine have partnered to create an outdoor classroom grant program to provide schools with additional resources to improve their science curriculum by engaging students in hands-on experiences outside the traditional classroom. All K-12 public schools in the United States are welcome to apply.Grants of up to $2,000 will be awarded to at least one hundred K-12 public schools for use in establishing a new outdoor classroom or enhancing an existing one. The deadline is August 31 for mid-September notification.

Nike Corporate Philanthropy for Physical Education
Part of Nike's corporate giving focuses on programs that support youth and physical activity, and the positive effects of the two when they are truly in sync. Programs should increase and promote physical activity in some way - indoor, outdoors or both -- whether it's something as traditional as soccer or a basketball camp, the fluidity and passion of dance, or jumping rope, riding a unicycle or something completely fresh and new. Applicants must be nonprofit organizations and may not be faith-based. Eligible proposals are reviewed throughout the year.

Knight Foundation Community Partners:The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation will make Community Partners Program awards to nonprofits in the 26 communities served by Knight-Ridder newspapers. Applications are accepted year-round.

ShopKo Foundation Grants for Education, Health & Wellness
The ShopKo Foundation supports nonprofits in ShopKo communities that focus on education, health and wellness.  Support is provided for programs focusing on: at-risk students; people with learning disabilities; literacy programs and activities recognizing educational achievement; and activities promoting healthy lifestyles and raising awareness of health-related concerns.
