Mockingbird Foundation Music Grant
Mockingbird Foundation gives $50 to $5,000 to groups including K-12 teachers who encourage and foster creative expression in any musical form. Mockingbird is interested in projects that foster self-esteem and free expression, and particularly (though not exclusively) interested in programs which benefit disenfranchised groups, including those with low skill levels, income, or education.
Deadlines are February 1 or August 1.
Mary McMullan Fund For Art Education
National Art Education Foundation (NAEF) invites proposals of projects that promote art education as an integral part of the curriculum for private or public elementary and secondary schools as well as schools of higher education in the U.S. Five areas will be considered for funding: development of model in-school art education programs, teacher development of models that focus on student-centered solutions to art education curriculum, development of pilot projects focusing on teacher training and student learning, development of models that promote quality art education to educators, and development of curriculum models that focus on global perspectives of art resources.
Deadline is October 1, 2006.
Charles Lafitte Foundation Grants
The Charles Lafitte Foundation provides support for innovative programs aimed at resolving social service issues, assisting students with learning disabilities, providing technology and computer based education, creating access to education of the arts, supporting at-risk children from pre-school to college and providing learning enhancement, including the development of leadership skills. The Education Program includes support for research and conferences as well as support for programs that promote academic excellence in institutions of higher learning. Only 501(c)3 nonprofits may apply.
Applications are accepted year-round.
Milagro Foundation Grants
The Foundation funds creative and unique programs from grass roots organizations that work with underrepresented and underprivileged children first and foremost. The grants focus on art, education and health. Priority is given to programs that can prove to make a lasting impact on children (those that work with the children for two or more years) and programs or projects that show collaboration between and among more than one agency.
The Board makes decisions on grants three times a year–February, June and October, and grants are usually between $2500 and $5000.
Summer Schools in the Arts Grant
To raise the quality and availability of arts education in communities nationwide, the Arts Endowment
created the Summer Schools in the Arts program. This program supports rigorous, challenging summer arts
education programs that enable children and youth to acquire knowledge and skills in the arts as well
as gain lifelong interests in the arts and culture. The Arts Endowment anticipates awarding fewer
than 50 grants ranging from $15,000 to $35,000. All grants require a nonfederal match of at least 1 to 1.
Statement of Interest Deadline: May 22, 2006, application deadline August 28, 2006.
Target Company Grants for Arts, Violence Prevention, or Literacy
Arts grants are given to programs that bring the arts to schools or make it affordable for families to
participate in cultural experiences, such as school touring programs, field trips to the theater or
symphony, or artist residencies and workshops in schools. Awards may be up to $3000.

Bayer Foundation Arts and Culture Grants (Kansas City area specific)
The Bayer Foundation funds nonprofit, non-religious based community programs near its corporate offices, including its offices in Kansas City. The Bayer Foundation has been a longtime proponent and sponsor of programs designed to integrate science and the arts. The Foundation is also interested in unique arts education programs designed to reach young audiences so as to create future patrons of the arts.
The deadline for the Kansas City Area is continuous.
