Heart of America E-Commerce:
Heart of America E-Commerce seeks two part-time paid journalism interns for 10-20 hours a week. Office hours are 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Pay rate is $7.50 per hour. Flexible scheduling. Location: 1617 St. Andrews Drive - in the Lawrence Regional Technology Center. We have created a Web site designed to enlist experts to help us find category specific best of class products and provide timeless articles on good product decisions for our 700 categories of products.
We have created a brief survey for these experts in 20 of the 700 categories. W e have created a list of 10 experts so interns are to help us contact and solicit their input for each of these 20 prototype categories. So we need a couple young people who are bull dogs at soliciting expert opnions to see if we can get some good prototype input and guidance on laying out the project. We think if we asked "experts" in say weight lifting to write a timeless article on the art of gift giving to Weight Lifters and then help them publish that article on blogs throughout the web to build their street cred, that we might be able to interest them enough in us to even moderate the segment of our wiki on Weight Lifting.
Ultimately we want to expand our wiki beyond the 20 "test" categories and enlist experts in all 700. We are hoping to essentially find (centers of influence who can; 1. send people our way and 2. build meaningful content for our shoppers. Please e-mail a cover letter, resume and your experience and availability.

Project Vote Smart:
Project Vote Smart
is a national, non-partisan, non-profit political research library located in the Montana Rockies. The Project was founded by former Presidents Carter and Ford, and 40 other prominent national leaders of both major political parties and funded by the Carnegie and Ford Foundations. The New York Times said, "Project Vote Smart is so good that even the Federal Government recommends it."
Project Vote Smart is currently accepting applications for the Fall and Winter National Internship Program. This is an especially great opportunity for recent graduates. This year the new online application system allows students to submit their applications completely electronically, expediting the review and acceptance process.
Students can apply online and more information about Project Vote Smart at our Web site, www.votesmart.org.
Thanks to the generous support of members across the country, Project Vote Smart is once again able to offer the Barry Goldwater Scholarship to all accepted students. This scholarship provides room and board for the duration of the student's 10-week internship at Project Vote Smart headquarters, the Great Divide Ranch in Montana.
Through Project Vote Smart internships, students will have a unique opportunity to be involved with the political process, while enjoying one of the most spectacular places on earth. The nternship will give students the chance to provide millions of people with factual, unbiased information, and the opportunity to stroll around pristine lakes and rivers, hike throughout the Rocky Mountains, or ski some of the best slopes in the country. During an internship with Project Vote Smart, students will work hard and learn a great deal, all in an environment defined by its beautiful scenery and the commitment of its staff and interns.
Project Vote Smart internships, as with all the other areas of the organization, focus on the end product: providing voters with pertinent, factual information on presidential, congressional, gubernatorial, and state legislative candidates and elected officials. For students, this means a hands-on internship with significant opportunities for learning and growth. In fact, more than 90 percent of the information that Project Vote Smart provides is researched, entered, and checked by interns and volunteers. This system has been developed and cultivated specifically to ensure that interns are primarily responsible for the research; the few staff members are here simply to train and guide interns in what needs to be accomplished. Please consider this opportunity, which will be an unforgettable learning experience.

Position Context:
The water industry, which includes the distribution of clean drinking water and handling and treatment of our used water (wastewater), continues to rise in public consciousness and importance. Aging infrastructure and demands for cleaner water while sources grow scarcer place an increasing value on water in our future. That's why larger, multinational companies like General Electric (GE), Siemens, and ITT have recently purchased water industry manufacturing and service companies. Smith & Loveless, as a manufacturer for more than 60 years, which is privately owned and medium sized, has a unique position of being reputable and nimble enough to compete against the larger conglomerates, but challenged by their larger marketing budgets and distribution size. The key for Smith & Loveless Marketing Communications is executing an integrated approach to the marketplace that distinguishes our company and products in this competitive industry. Additionally, the department is working to create new messaging for promoting the company's products and the corresponding benefits in energy efficiency and how to integrate “green” concepts into its communications.
