The Wellington News is looking for an energetic, reporter who is passionate about journalism and wants to make a difference in a small community.

The News, a 2,400 circulation, 3-day-a-week newspaper in south central Kansas, is undergoing a total makeover. The family-like staff at the News is committed to growing the newspaper to become a portal to the community of Wellington and all of Sumner County. We want you to be a part of the change.

A candidate should have a degree in journalism or communications with knowledge of AP style and Quark. Photography and online skills are a plus. The desire to learn, share ideas and ability to think outside the box are a must.

The Garden City Telegram is seeking someone with a sharp editing eye, flair for design and an eagerness to embrace multimedia to fill a copy editor/page designer position in our newsroom.

We're looking for someone who is adept at finding errors and holes in stories, has a knack for designing engaging, attractive pages, and knows how to do both on tight deadlines. Knowledge of AP Style, experience with InDesign and multimedia skills preferred.

The Hutchinson News:
Sports editor: The Hutchinson News, Hutchinson, Kan., seeks an energetic and creative sports editor to supervise a staff of three full-time writers and several part-time staff members.

The News provides prep sports coverage for more than 30 counties in south-central and southwest Kansas. The right candidate for sports editor should have a working knowledge and encourage the use of multimedia platforms – especially Twitter and hutchnews.com – that help speed delivery of sports news and scores. This position also requires a person who can demonstrate good organizational skills and be an effective communicator, supervisor, editor and writer.

Experience with Quark or similar desktop publishing software is required. The News is recognized for its coverage of high school sports, and also covers the NJCCA and some Big 12 football and basketball games. The News is the flagship paper of the Harris Group, which owns four other newspapers in Kansas and one in Iowa. We offer a competitive salary, an ESOP, 401(k) and other benefits.
