All new international students must complete three separate mandatory check-in procedures before they can enroll. A detailed explanation of these procedures can be found on page 5 of the Pre-Arrival Guide for new international students. There is a "hold" for each of these steps that will prevent you from enrolling until all processes are completed. After all of the "holds" have been removed and you have met with your academic advisor to select your classes, you will be able to enroll on your appointed enrollment date.
Students participating in the "YOU at KU" international student orientation program will complete the check-in procedures as a part of the orientation program. Orientation staff will be available to provide personal guidance and assistance with this. If you are participating in orientation then you do not need to do anything else to complete your check-in procedures at this time.
Students who chose not to participate in the "YOU at KU" orientation will need to do each of the check-in procedures on their own. The procedures may be completed in any order. Specific dates and times will be scheduled for completing each of the steps. You must sign up in advance for each of these procedures after you arrive at KU. Information about where and when to sign up is listed below. Additional instructions will be made available when you sign up. Also be sure to review the information in the Pre-Arrival Guide regarding what to take with you to sign up and to attend your session. Make sure that you know your KUID number, as you may need to indicate it in order to sign up.
International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS)
Go to the ISSS Office, Room 2 Strong Hall on or after Monday, July 19 and sign up for one of the following check-in dates.
- August 13 (Friday)
- August 16 (Monday)
- August 17 (Tuesday)
- August 18 (Wednesday)
Time and location for the check-in session will be noted when you sign up. The ISSS Office is open 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday.
Applied English Center (AEC)
Go to the AEC, Room 204 Lippincott Hall on or after Monday, August 9 to schedule your English proficiency assessment. The AEC office is open 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday.
Student Health Services (SHS)
Call the SHS at 785-864-9500 to schedule your appointment. The SHS is open 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Monday-Friday.
