Each type of immigration status (F-1, J-1, etc.) has its own set of unique rules and regulations. It is the responsibility of all international students to know and understand their legal obligations for their own status. The consequences of violating status can be very severe. Although many categories do allow individuals to enroll on a part time basis, some categories such as F-2 (dependent), B-1 and B-2 (tourist) are usually restricted from taking any courses. If you have any questions about your status and staying legal, you should contact an advisor in the ISSS Office.
Summer classes begin June3. Students must arrive by May 29 to complete all three mandatory check-in processes, to be able to enroll by June 2, thereby avoiding late enrollment fees.
If you are not attending orientation, you should plan on arriving in the US on or before August 14 to complete the check-in process and enroll in your classes before late fees apply.
