Admission options for first-year and transfer students

If you enter KU as a first-year student, you must enter one of these schools. Eligible transfer students also may apply to enter these schools. Apply as early as possible. Some programs may fill before the application deadlines. If you are undecided about your major, apply to the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

School of Architecture, Design, and Planning (including architectural engineering)	First-year student	(1) High school diploma with college preparatory curriculum and a 3.5 GPA or equivalent. (2) 3 years of science including physics, 3 years of math including trigonometry, precalculus, or calculus (preferred), and at least 3 art or drawing classes. (3) SAT math score of 600 or ACT math of 26 (SAT math score of 640 or ACT math of 28 required for architectural engineering). Admission is competitive. Contact Architecture Admissions Office. (2) Minimum 3.0 GPA on the 4.0 scale in high school and (3) Minimum ACT math score of 22 or minimum SAT math score of 540 (for architectural engineering, computer engineering, computer science and electrical engineering a minimum ACT Math score of 28 or minimum SAT math score of 640 is required). (4) If you have had an educational gap of longer than one semester, please include an essay detailing your activity during that period of time. *Competitive Admission*. Admission Options Beyond the First-year Level

First-year students who plan to enter the schools on the chart below usually begin their studies in CLAS and apply to these programs as sophomores, juniors, or seniors. Eligible transfer students also may apply to enter these schools. Apply as early as possible. Some programs may fill before the deadlines.

Junior

Apply to the School of Business during the semester you will complete the preadmission requirements.
(1) Complete 60 college credit hours, including ACCT 200, ACCT 201, DSCI 301, IST 301, ECON 142, and ECON 144. Completion of the following courses is strongly recommended: PSYC 104 and one Society and Culture (SC) course.
(2) Acheive a GPA of 2.5 in all course work, in all professional course work (business and economics classes), in course work completed at KU, and in professional course work completed at KU, excluding activity hours.
(3) Submit official ACT or SAT scores and professional resume.
(4) Admission is competitive. Applicants satisfying minimum requirements are ranked based on ACT composite scores and GPA in all professional course work. Applicants are then admitted based on their position in this ranking and available space in the School of Business.

(2) for teacher education programs, complete core of specific

Pre-Professional Skills Test before submitting application, and
(3) complete requirements in the School of Education chapter of the KU Undergraduate Catalog, and
(4) Apply to education school by Feb. 1 for next academic year.
Admission in selective programs is competitive.
