Cultural Programs


International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) coordinates a variety of programs and works closely with some community-based programs. Detailed information and applications for any of the below programs can be obtained in ISSS office, Room 2 Strong Hall. A variety of programs and workshops, such as off-campus employment,job search techniques, immigration basics, and tax assistance, are offered throughout the year to provide information about topics that are relevant to international students.

    GAP is a certification program open to all undergraduates regardless of their major. Students are recognized for their international experiences each semester. A notation of completion appears on their KU transcript. A certificate is also issued by OIP and a recognition reception is held each year during the spring semester.

    To receive certification, students must complete 2 of the following:A: Study Abroad (International students have already fulfilled this requirement). B: 2 semesters of a foreign language and 3 courses with international focus. (English Proficiency for International students). C: Participation in international activities in and outside of KU. Credits will be given retroactively for components A and B.
