Immigration Advising
Immigration support is a critical service that ISSS offers to non-immigrant students and their academic units at KU. ISSS advisors offer an accurate and thorough understanding of immigration regulations that govern F-1, J-1 and numerous status categories to more than 2,000 international students from more than 100 countries currently enrolled. Members of the campus community are invited to direct immigration-related inquiries to ISSS at any time.
F-1 Students and J-1 Students

Immigration related services include, but are not limited to the following areas:
- I-20 and DS-2019 Extensions
- On/Off-Campus Employment
- Travel Issues
- School Transfer In/Out Procedures
- Dependent Information
- Replacement/Duplicate I-20s and DS-2019s
- Reinstatement to Legal Status
- Change of Status Applications
Other Statuses (i.e. F-2, H-1B, L-2, E-2, etc.)
About 5% of international students at KU are in some status other than F-1 or J-1. ISSS provides immigration advising for all non-immigrant categories.
