Funded Research

The Institute for Educational Researchand Public ServiceThe Institute was established by the School of Education in 1997 to provide research support to faculty and public service to the State of Kansas. Bailey was its founding Director, and he continues in that role. The Institute serves the direct support needs of 35 faculty, and it employs 100 professionals and Graduate Research Assistants. Its 55 projects are funded by the NSF, the US Department of Education, the State of Kansas, and five Foundations. In FY 07 it generated nearly seven million dollars in research and training expenditures.

The projects where Bailey is Principal Investigator center on teacher development and educational opportunity. He annually is in the top five faculty members at the University in research and training dollars generated.

Selected Professional Organizations and Service

Member, National Council for Accreditation of Teacher EducationBoard of Examiners, 1995 to present. Bailey has chaired accreditation visits to the University of Alaska-Fairbanks, the University of Idaho, the University of Vermont, the University of Florida, the University of South Carolina, Clemson University, Texas A&M University, Oklahoma State University, the University of Maryland, the University of Alabama, The Ohio State University, and seven other institutions.

The Institute exists to assist School of Education faculty in their pursuit of external funding and to serve the State of Kansas. Major programs areas are:
