Becky J. A. Eason, Associate Director, joined the Institute in the fall of 2002.  She holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in English, and a PhD in Higher Education – all from the University of Kansas.  Prior to joining the Institute, Eason was a Recruitment Coordinator for the Office of Equal Opportunity, and has also served as the Assistant to the Dean for Communications in the School of Education.

Dr. Eason’s primary responsibilities for the Institute include overseeing the budget and finance aspects of grants administration, managing the personnel/human resources functions for the Institute’s 90+ employees, and guiding the grantwriting efforts of various Institute staff.  In addition, Eason is also the Principal Investigator for grants that partner with Haskell Indian Nations University and the Kansas State Department of Education.  

Dr. Eason’s research expertise is in Qualitative Research Methodologies; as such, she has extensive experience in conducting interviews and focus groups and in interpreting qualitative data.  Recent publications have appeared in Gender and Education and the Bulletin of the Council for Research in Music Education, and she has also co-authored a book chapter, Qualitative Research Methodologies, for a textbook titled Research Methods in Music Education and Music Therapy.
