Physical Activity in Afterschool Across Kansas

The specific goal of this project is to integrate regular physical activity into all afterschool programs and to increase the amount of afterschool time dedicated to physical activity.  Objectives include:

Complete an inventory of afterschool programs, regardless of funding sources. Develop a database of physical activity components in afterschool programs, including descriptions of curricula and amount of time devoted to it. Establish a KEN Physical Activity Work Group to identify partner resources and to generate research on the value of increased physical activity in afterschool. Sponsor conferences to "Integrate Physical Acitivity into Afterschool Programs. Help providers of standards-based physical-activity trainings adjust their curricula specifically for afterschool programs and help afterschool workers take advantage of these programs.
